Red Hook Candle Collective began with a simple observation: the quality of light in Red Hook is unlike anywhere else in New York City.

Perhaps it's the peninsula's unique position in the harbor, or the way sunlight reflects off the water onto the neighborhood's brick facades, but there's a warmth and character to the atmosphere that feels both nostalgic and immediate.

We wanted to capture that quality—not just the light, but the feeling it evokes—in scents that could transport people to this special corner of Brooklyn. Working amongst the converted warehouse spaces that once housed shipping supplies, we began experimenting with wax blends and fragrance combinations that could tell the story of our neighborhood: its maritime past, its industrial character, its artistic revival, and its resilient community spirit.
